9:00 AM - 2:00 PM Juneteenth Walk for Racial Justice
All are invited to celebrate Juneteenth, a day that commemorates the ending of slavery in the United States. This event is open to the community and is hosted by the Ann Arbor branch of the NAACP and the Protectors of Equality in Government in partnership with the City of Ann Arbor. Join the event anytime 9 a.m.-noon in a 1-mile walk for racial justice beginning at Fuller Park (1519 Fuller Road) and travel along the Border-to-Border trail to Wheeler Park (200 Depot St.). Noon-2 p.m., Wheeler Park will be the host site of featured speakers, videos and a time for reflection. A group of up to 100 people are permitted to gather, or join online as a virtual participant. Participants are encouraged to wear masks and remain 6 feet apart from others at all times. Email volunteer@a2gov.org to register for the online event.
9:00 AM - 12:00 PM Stewardship Workday at Black Pond Woods Nature Area

This shady woodland is a wonderful place to spend a summer morning! Enjoy the fresh air and rolling hills while pulling invasive species that threaten the health of this ecologically important park. Then, take a peek at the natural feature we are working to protect at the end of the day; Black Pond! Pre-registration through Rec-1 is required as space is limited. Participants must wear a mask and maintain a 6-ft distance from others at all times. Please wear long pants, closed-toed shoes, and gardening gloves. All minors should be accompanied by a guardian. Compost bags and know-how provided. Meeting location will be provided after registration. Register here

Native pollinators rely on native plants to raise their young, and this park is the place to be if you’re a pollinator! Help us protect our population of Wild Indigo Duskywing butterflies, a rare species in our area, by removing encroaching invasive species from the butterfly’s habitat. Pre-registration through Rec-1 is required as space is limited. Participants must wear a mask and maintain a 6-ft distance from others at all times. Please wear long pants, closed-toed shoes, and gardening gloves. All minors should be accompanied by a guardian. Compost bags and know-how provided. Meeting location will be provided after registration. Register here
